  • The eccentric Frenchman becomes the latest fashion designer to collaborate with Diet Coke

Diet Coke has a long tradition of collaborating with famous fashion designers, and this looks set to continue with the news that Jean Paul Gaultier is the brand’s new Creative Director.

The Frenchman will work on a series of Diet Coke projects throughout 2012, and will follow in the fashionable footsteps of the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Matthew Williamson and Roberto Cavalli who have all teamed up with the drinks brand giant in the past to design limited edition bottles.

To mark his appointment as Creative Director, JPG will first star in three short films for Diet Coke alongside the firm’s trademark string puppets, styling them after they approach him with a fashion emergency and taking on a range of bonkers personas, including a paparazzi photographer, therapist and private detective.

Two of the videos are released today with the third hitting the web tomorrow, and can be viewed on YouTube and the Diet Coke Facebook page
