  • Marks and Spencer and Lush awarded for animal-friendly policies

MARKS AND SPENCER AND Lush came out on top at the RSPCA Good Business Awards last night. Winning fashion and beauty awards respectively, the companies were applauded for their animal welfare-friendly policies.

Award judge Wayne Hemmingway commended M&S for its ethical policies, commenting, ‘What M&S is doing to put animal welfare conscious fashion on the high street cannot be praised highly enough. It is just a shame that many of its competitors are being so slow to respond to what is both morally right and a shrewd business move.’

For beauty, Lush won for its commitment to achieving higher standards for animal welfare. Judge Jo Fairley added, ‘Lush’s outstanding commitment to the cause shines out, which made our decision a little easier.’

Other fashion winners included Wildlifeworks UK for the fashion retailer category and Beyond Skin who won the Innovation award. For beauty, Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare was highly commended, along with Urban Decay for its commitment to improving animal welfare.
