WWF joins M&S for environmental initiative

  • WWF and Marks and Spencer announce environmental partnership

    Marks & Spencer and WWF have announced today that they are teaming up to help people become more environmentally aware, through M&S’s Plan A scheme.

    The charity will work with M&S to help source sustainable raw materials, and will also provide the M&S website with its carbon footprint calculator to help advise customers and staff on how to live a more carbon neutral lifestyle.

    In turn, Marks & Spencer will fund WWF conservation projects in Borneo and the North East Atlantic Marine Eco-Region.

    Speaking of the partnership, M&S Chief Executive Stuart Rose commented,’ We have promised to reach out to our customers, our staff and our suppliers to help them to take action to reduce their own environmental impact… we are delighted that we can now accelerate this process with expert support and advice from WWF.’

    David Nussbaum the WWF UK Chief Executive added, ‘This partnership will address some of the most significant environmental challenges on the high street today and Marks & Spencer once again are showing themselves to be at the cutting edge of environmental retailing.’

    The M&S Plan A initiative has committed to making UK and Irish operations carbon neutral, to stop sending any waste to landfills and extend sustainable sourcing.
