Still not sure if you can pull off knee-high boots? Follow our top style tips for looking chic in your OTKs (over the knees)
Rule No.1: Mind The Gap
There is nothing more unflattering than badly fitting over-the-knee boots. Too tight or too big is just not a good look. Take the time to find a pair that fit you perfectly. If you have shapely calves, then check out DUO, it has a range of boots in 21 calf sizes.
Rule No.2: Play Around With Proportions
In theory, this look shouldn’t work, but the trick here is to team your OTKs with masculine tailoring. Keep colours in the same tones, but if you’re adventurous enough opt for a printed pair – just keep everything else plain.
Rule No.3: Colour Clash
The instinct is to always reach for black for an evening occasion, but try an unexpected colour combo. The brown suede is great for a casual day vibe, but works equally well with this orange dress. Experiment with colours and textures for fresh, understated chic.
Rule No.4: Hang Loose
If you’re going short, then keep your dress or skirt loose fitting. Do not mix bodycon and knee-high boots. Ever. Unless you’re going to a fancy dress party as Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. And under no circumstances are short shorts acceptable with over-the-knee boots.
