  • See Milan's most celebrity-packed front row of the week

Although Milan Fashion Week is not short of designer names to fill its packed schedule, this year there has been a distinct lack of A-listers on the front row.

This changed yesterday at Dolce & Gabbana, when Lindsay Lohan, Naomi Campbell, Sheryl Crow, Fergie and Monica Bellucci all showed up, in anticipation of the duo’s sexy starlet style that regularly adorns Hollywood’s red carpets.

They may have been disappointed; the clinching corsets, floor length gowns and plunging necklines, for which the label is famed, had been abandoned in favour of long tweedy skirts, three-piece suits, layered knits and leather flat caps.

In comparison, Lindsay’s signature Dolce thigh-skimming mini dress made her appear positively under-dressed, as she exclaimed from the front row that even she thought it was far too short.

Whether their celebrity clientele will buy into this new direction remains to be seen; this Sunday’s Oscars will certainly be a test. Check back to on Monday for all the Oscar pictures, and to spot whether any D&G gowns make it to the red carpet!
