Christian Bale denies assault and is bailed without charge
Christian Bale has denied allegations of assault made against him by his mother and sister.
The Batman star was questioned for several hours at a London police station yesterday but was released on bail without charge.
The 34-year-old’s publicist, Jennifer Allen confirmed the actor’s release saying in a statement: ‘Christian Bale attended a London police station today [Tuesday], on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister,’ she said.
‘Mr. Bale, who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police.
‘Welsh-born Bale is expected to return to the UK in September, pending further enquiries.
The comic book hero star was arrested on Monday, just hours before he graced the red carpet for the European premiere of the eagerly anticipated The Dark Knight.
According to claims made by the actor’s mother and sister, Bale allegedly lashed out in his suite at the Dorchester Hotel in London on Sunday night. His mother and sister, who live in Dorset, lodged the allegation at a police station in Hampshire on Monday.
Police made the decision to hold off questioning Bale until after the star-studded premiere on Monday night.
Rumours are circling that the Batman star has reportedly become depressed over strains in his marriage to Sandra Blazic, a former model and make-up artist and the death of his close friend and Batman co-star, Heath Ledger.
