H&M unveils its latest star designer: Sonia Rykiel
Adding yet another name to its illustrious list of guest designers, H&M has today announced that Sonia Rykiel has created an exclusive collection for the high street giant.
Joining the likes of Matthew Williamson, Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney – who have all designed capsule ranges for the store – the Parisian design house has created two lines – one for winter ’09 and a later drop for spring 2010.
A first for H&M’s designer lines, not only will the collection contain Rykiel’s signature knits, it will extend to lingerie and related accessories as well, plus the spring collection will also feature childrenswear.
Nathalie Rykiel, president and artistic director of Sonia Rykiel, commented, ‘It is a hallmark of Sonia Rykiel to think of all women because fashion is about a certain spirit more than a question of means.
‘This collaboration fits perfectly with our philosophy. The Sonia Rykiel pour H&M lingerie collection is the ideal way to offer the essence of Rykiel to a great number of women around the world, and a beautiful way to close the year.’
So get the diaries out fashion fans – the collection first hits stores on 5 December. Expect a stampede!
