  • French Connection invites you to a fashion-filled Friday

Looking for something slightly different to fill your Friday night? Well, fashion fans should get themselves over to the Victoria & Albert museum tonight for French Connection’s Friday Night Lates.

Tonight’s event, Close Up, focuses on the world of fashion photography, and gives attendees the chance to get up close and personal with some of the industry’s most respected snappers.

Visitors will have the chance to art direct their own shoot in the French Connection photography studio, watch live shoots taking place throughout the museum and listen to talks by leading photographers Warren Du Preez & Nick Thornton Jones, Paolo Roversi and Tim Walker.

The evening will also delve into the world of fashion film, and will feature the premiere of Miuccia Prada’s new autumn/winter ’08 film, Fallen Shadows. An hour-long programme curated by Professor Penny Martin will explore the origins of the field, and will feature short films by Nick Knight, SHOWstudio, Erwin Blumenfeld and Guy Bourdin.

Budding photographers should clear their evening, and take advantage of the panel of 15 industry experts on hand to deal out advice. Take along your portfolio and sign up for a review, and some invaluable tips to boot.

The event is free, starts at 6.30pm and ends at 10pm.
