  • The private family ceremony will be streamed over the internet, the late singer's publicist has confirmed

Whitney Houston’s funeral will be broadcast live over the internet on Saturday, the late singer’s publicist has confirmed.

Although the funeral itself will be a private, family affair, the ceremony will be streamed online, for thousands around the world to pay their respects.

Houston’s publicist Kristen Foster announced the news yesterday, after confirming there would be no public memorial for the star.

The funeral, to be held at the New Hope Baptist Church in the singer’s home town of New Jersey, will be shown on AP Live on Saturday, as well as some satellite channels.

Yesterday it was revealed that Whitney’s godmother, soul singer Aretha Franklin, will sing at the service, while it’s been reported her ex-husband Bobby Brown has been asked to stay away.

The singer was found dead in a bath tub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in the early hours of Sunday morning.

An investigation into the cause of her death is ongoing.
