After attending the New York premiere of the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight, Heath Ledger’s family have expressed how proud they are of his acclaimed performance as the Joker.
Heath’s father, Kim, said: ‘The Dark Knight is everything we hoped it would be and more.
‘Heath loved the experience of creating this character and working on the film. We are so proud of our boy.’
Kim Ledger and his wife, Heath’s mother Sally Bell and her husband, and Heath’s older sister, Kate, flew in from Australia to join the movie’s stars at Monday night’s premiere, where the audience broke into cheers when Ledger’s name appeared in the credits.
And his co-stars in the movie are all calling for him to win a posthumous Oscar.
Michael Caine, who’s butler to Christian Bale’s Batman, said: ‘I’ll be surprised if he doesn?t win the Oscar. He’ll get my vote anyway.
‘He was incredible, amazing. It’s an incredible performance, just wonderful.’
And Bale heaped praise on him, too, saying: ‘He immersed himself completely. He had a fantastic time making this movie. I did, too, with him.’
