Amy Winehouse's mum issues public plea to her troubled daughter
Amy Winehouse’s mother has written a public letter to her troubled daughter, begging her to get in touch and to seek help.
Janis Winehouse’s public plea was published in the News of the World this weekend, as an attempt to reach out to Amy. She wrote, ‘This letter is my way of making sure that you know that all you have to do is come to us, Amy, and we’ll do everything in our power to get you well again.’
She added, ‘We want to help you, but we know that unless you want to be helped – unless you come to us – anything we tried would be in vain.’ Hinting that her recent estrangement from her daughter was due to a disagreement about Amy’s husband Blake, Mrs Winehouse added, ‘Some wonderful things have happened, but also some not so wonderful. Blake, your husband, might not be my favourite person – you know that, Amy – but he’s your choice and I would never say anything about him to hurt you.’
It is not all bad news for Amy though, Although she has been dogged by controversy this year, Chanel designer Karl Lagerferld has named her as his new muse.
Speaking of Winehouse, Lagerfeld called her ‘a style icon,’ and, as an homage, based his London show last week on the singer.
Models graced the catwalks with bee-hive hairdos, with Karl commenting ‘She is a beautiful, gifted artist. And I very much like her hairdo. I took it as an inspiration. Because, in fact, it was also Brigitte Bardot’s hairdo in the late Fifties and Sixties. And now Amy has made it her own style.’
