Madonna completes star-studded Cannes finale at AMFAR benefit party
The Cannes film festivities might have been winding down, but the stars weren’t ready to hang up their party shoes yet, turning out for the biggest bash of the festival, the annual fundraiser benefit, amFAR Cinema Against AIDS.
Madonna stole the show, appearing in a demure coral pussy-bow dress by Stella McCartney and much to everyone’s delight her hubby, Guy Ritchie, was on her arm.
Sporting a new bearded look, Ritchie has opted to stay out of the limelight in recent months, prompting speculation about the couple’s marriage. However they were all smiles at the charity benefit last night.
Madge spoke about her new documentary film, I Am Because We Are, about children orphaned by AIDS in Malawi. ‘To say that this film is a labor of love is true, but that’s kind of trivial because really what it is, is a journey of a lifetime,’ she said.
Sharon Stone continued to defy her years, but her choice of dress left little to be desired in an all-over leopard print gown. Still, there’s no denying she oozes the old-time movie star quality.
Meanwhile Natalie Portman worked the red carpet once more in a giant ruffle white dress by Givenchy. Perhaps not to everyone’s taste, Portman pulled off the look with aplomb, being likened to a ‘blossom picked from a nearby garden’.
And finally working the style stakes to the max was Dita von Teese in a sophisticated purple, draped gown by Jean Paul Gaultier.
