Take a stand against standby (Click to enlarge)Take a stand against standby

The average home has 20 appliances potentially gobbling up electricity on standby. Switching them off at the wall could save up to a quarter of a tonne of CO2 a year. A computer left on all day is responsible for 400kg of emissions, while televisions are also major culprits. And most gadget chargers eat electricity. So once you’ve powered up your PSP, iPod or mobile, switch off the charger. Total savings: up to 350kg of CO2 per person a year.
