The best powder foundations
If you suffer from oily skin, a powder foundation often has more staying power than a traditional liquid formula. For the rest of us, they're just the quickest way to make-up and run in the mornings. Check out our favourites below…
Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Compact, £30.50
Powder foundations can be slightly drying on the skin, which makes them a great choice for oily or combination skin. If, however, you like the convenience of a powder foundation, but have normal or dry skin, Lancôme's Teint Idole Hydra-Compact is for you. Infused with a special combination of water and waxes, vitamin E and mallow extracts, it feels super-soft when applied to the skin and won't dry out during the day.
Jane Iredale PurePressed Powder, £29.93
A foundation, concealer and powder all in one, this brilliant powder is great for those with blemish-prone skin. There is a loose mineral powder version, but for oilier skin types, choose the PurePressed version instead.
Virgin Vie One Step Face Base, £15
One of these little beauties is sold every two minutes in the UK and, once you've tried it, you'll understand why. A simple sweep of the sponge (which comes handily hidden in a little compartment under the base) delivers flawless coverage that covers blemishes and imperfections, without looking caked on. A handbag essential.
Benefit Get Even, £21.50
Kind of like the tinted moisturiser of compact foundations, this little gem is perfect for blotting shine and evening out skin tone. Great if you don't want to look like you're wearing foundation, but just need a tiny bit of coverage, it's available in three shades, which cover all skin tones.
