The one high street store NOT feeling the pinch of the credit crunch
The British high street might be in disarray, but one store NOT feeling the credit crunch is, yes, you guessed it, Primark.
The bargain-busting, discount destination has today posted a sales rise of 18% in the 16 weeks up to 3 January.
The good news comes in the face of accusations by the BBC and Guardian this week that British suppliers to the chain have been employing illegal workers and paying them substantially less than the minimum wage.
Primark, who has confirmed it is investigating the claims, said its record sales figures were thanks to ‘very good’ like-for-like sales growth and increased selling space.
