Agyness, Alexa, Rosie and more get summery at the Royal Academy
London’s bright young things descended on the Royal Academy of Arts last night, for the venue’s annual summer soiree.
Giving us a hint of what the capital’s hottest stylistas will be sporting this season, the overriding trend was for flowing floor-skimming maxi dresses.
Brit It-model, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, led the pack, in a strapless camel number, teamed with black crop jacket, while fellow fashionistas Erin O’Connor (in black) and TV’s Trinny Woodall (in white) also took their style to the maxi.
But that didn’t mean that short and sweet was entirely eschewed. Emilia Fox looked cute-as-a-button in her bow-necked black shift, and in super-summery mode, Stella McCartney gave a nod to the bold shoulder trend in her sculptural floral minidress.
Alexa Chung flashed her pins in a thigh-high dove grey draped dress, with gold loafers and a baby pink bag. One word of advice Ms Chung – you may have conquered the best-dressed lists, but the two-tone hair colour has to go.
Blame the Yankee influence perhaps, but Alexa wasn’t the only returning Brit to let the style side down. Her fellow honorary New Yorker, Agyness Deyn, was also back in the capital, but failed to impress.
Arriving in a miniscule black bandeau dress and white boyfriend blazer, Aggy may have been going for edgy, but left us cold with her Eighties get-up. The worst part? A too-inky pout and dark-rooted ‘do topped off this sartorial disaster.
