Show report: Fendi A/W’12

Karl Lagerfeld confirmed that fur, fur and more fur is a definite trend for A/W’12

Karl Lagerfeld confirmed that fur, fur and more fur is a definite trend for A/W’12.

Antelope, goat, mink and reptile, Fendi’s A/W’12 collection was a full on fur and skin frenzy. Animal rights activists will be outraged but let’s face it – the Fendi woman doesn’t do fake.

Entitled ‘The Warm Glow Before The Snow,’ Lagerfeld, the creative director of the luxury fashion house, alongside Silvia Venturini Fendi, unveiled a fuzzy and feminine, with a hard-edged twist, collection yesterday in Milan.

The waist was definitely the design house’s erogenous zone of choice – coats were sharply pulled with wide double-buckled corset style belts and skirt suits were nipped and tucked.

The colour palette reflected the tribal vibe, from the hunter-gatherer style models with their loosely plaited hair and smudged foiled eyes to the forest greens, earthy browns combined, clashed and blended with rich charcoals and maroon hues.

An oversized, shaggy fur coat teamed with a sultry maroon crocodile dress closed the show, giving more than a strong hint that Fendi seemed determined to provoke with their ‘in your face’ full fur attitude.

Hear the critics roar.
