Why today could be your worst day of 2008
Today is apparently the worst day of the year. Yes, some clever boffins have decided that when it comes to our bank balance, our self-esteem and even our looks, it doesn’t get worse than 15 October.
A survey of 2,000 women by GHD discovered that women in their twenties stop their lunchtime shopping trips today, as they start saving pennies for Christmas, while also noticing slight weight gain (that’ll be all the comfort eating we’ve been doing since the weather got colder) and fading tans (what, you had one to start with?).
‘October is definitely a low month,’ a spokesperson for GHD said. ‘The credit crunch hasn’t helped because women are cutting back on treating themselves. But girls still need a bit of TLC.’
Stylish Paul Merritt adds: ‘Mid-October signifies the official end of the summer in many minds – so no more sunshine, long balmy days and warm nights. It’s also two and a half months from the party season, so we’re in this horrible middle ground.’
