  • Airport cleaners were shocked to find a newborn baby boy in the toilets of an aeroplane, after landing in Manila...

Airport cleaners were shocked to discover an abandoned newborn baby boy in a plastic bag, inside a toilet bin of an aircraft on Saturday.

Investigators believe that the mother of the baby must have given birth in the aircraft, a Gulf Air jet which was flying to the Philippines from Saudi Arabia.

The baby was found by cleaners who boarded the plane after it landed in Manila. They immediately raised the alarm and doctors rushed to check the newborn was in good health. They wrapped the baby in a towel and warmed him up under a light bulb.
Search for the baby’s mother is under way. A police officer said: ‘The mother appears to have left the aircraft as soon as possible after the plane landed.’
Authorities are astonished as to how the baby’s mother managed to conceal the birth from other passengers without drawing any attention to herself.
Doctor Maria Teresa Agores, who was on duty in Terminal 1 when the baby was found said: ‘The good news is that the baby is healthy and weighs 6lb 6oz.’
