  • Today is the last chance to begin sensible dieting before Christmas, say Nutritionists.

As Christmas parties loom, nutritionists warn women that today marks their last chance to begin a sensible six-week diet to guarantee their little black dress fits perfectly.

Diet company Atkins claim women wanting to slim down or drop a dress size in time for the festivities must begin six weeks of healthy eating today to guarantee they reach their goal.

Lindy Byrne, of Atkins, says: ‘Many people leave it too late and go on a crash diet in December. This is counterproductive as the danger is you go out drinking on an empty stomach. Plus any weight you have lost is likely to go straight back on the moment you start tucking in to the party food.’

The low carbohydrate, high protein Atkins diet, which bans foods such as pasta, bread and grains, is a favourite among celebrities including Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Lopez. However, the diet has been criticised for being unbalanced.

So, whichever diet route you take to maintain a sensible weight and look great at your Christmas party, start healthy eating today.
