Ally Head

Marie Claire contributor

Ally is a contributing food, fitness, health and lifestyle journalist with over four years experience, having written for Women's Health, Red, Cosmopolitan, Harper's Bazaar, Elle and Foodism magazines. When she envisaged her career as a journalist, she couldn’t think of anything she’d like to do more than report on the latest peanut butters to try and so landed her first job at Women’s Health out of sheer PB-fuelled persistence. FYI, what Ally doesn’t know about nut butter isn’t worth knowing, and her favourite type is ManiLife Deep Roast (obv).

Day-to-day for Marie Claire, she reports on the latest news stories, writes food and lifestyle digital features and is always the first to volunteer to sweat-test the latest workout craze or taste the most recent superfood on the block. Pea milk? Adaptogens? Crickets? Been there, tried that. You can always count on her for a measured nutrition take, mainly because she's tried the lot and knows the best experts in the business. She also freelances as a food stylist, having worked backstage at many a BBC Good Food Show with chefs like James Martin, Mary Berry and Rachel Allen.

An English Language graduate with an MA in Magazine Journalism, when she's not writing, she's training for her next running race (she loves marathons and isn’t mad—or so she says), hunting down the latest must-try brunch spots in the capital and across the UK or perfecting her pancakes at home (whilst trying to remember to water her many plants). She's a keen reader, cyclist and Earl Grey tea brewer—she loves flirting with that fine line between fragrant and foul. Plus, she's never far from pressing play on her favourite food podcast, Table Manners hosted by Jessie Ware. Her career highlight? Winning Rude Health’s porridge championships two years in a row. Not bad.
