The A-lister shocked audiences by insulted her grandmother live on air
Gwyneth Paltrow made an A-list slip up blue during an appearance on US TV show Chelsea Lately yesterday, accidentally turning the airwaves blue by insulting her grandmother.
The usually reserved star – who has mostly recently been seen on all singing, all dancing hit show Glee – shocked viewers with the outburst, which came as she was promoting her new healthy eating cook book My Father’s Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family & Togetherness.
At one point during the show talk turned to her family, with Gwynnie and host Chelsea speaking about the how they both had ‘mean’ German grandmothers.
‘Mine was a real b**ch,’ Chelsea joked of her ‘mutti’ leaving Gwyneth to laughingly reply: ‘My grandmother was a real c**t.’
Justifying her outburst, Gwynnie revealed her late grandmother – who is thought to have died in 2006 – ‘hated my guts’.
‘She basically hated my guts,’ the actress explained to the American audience. ‘She tried to poison my mother [actress Blythe Danner] against me, but it didn’t work because I have a great mother.’
‘She was just tough, just tough. You look back and you think she must not have been very happy and she must have had a lot of pain because she was mean as hell.’
‘She was a German and they have a lot to feel bad about,’ comedian Chelsa retorted.
