  • Latest Japanese health club craze: rooms made entirely of salt

A health club with rooms made entirely of salt is the latest craze to hit Tokyo.

Saltasia is a female-only health club in the heart of the Japanese capital that has relaxation rooms with a difference. From walls to floors and ceilings every room is composed of hexagon-shaped, natural salt tiles.

Visitors can unwind within the white walls, behind which LED lights illuminate the rooms. Soothing music wafts from hidden speakers, allowing guests to stretch out, meditate and de-stress.

The rooms are heated to a warm 41?C which is cooler than a sauna, but intended to let visitors sweat, but not feel too uncomfortable.

If you like the sound of get salty, you might need to get saving as the salt cellar doesn’t come cheap. Joining fees at Saltasia range from $1,000 to $25,000 and $250 to $2,200 per month for four sessions.
