Denim dresses have long been our go-to for stylish summer dressing, and this season is no different, for the do-it-all denim dress is back and looking chicer than ever.
Seen here on the runway at Stella McCartney SS16, the denim dress holds some serious weight as an eveningwear option, and is no longer solely limited to just weekend wear.
Colour-wise, it’s still all about the blue wash, whether it be something light and distressed (Marques Almeida), classic and clean (Topshop) or Indigo with showstopping buckles – the message is clear; Blue rules all.
On the high street you’ll find fun micro styles from the likes of Zara and H&M.
While on the designer scene, you’ll be spoilt for choice with pinafore options (Stella McCartney), loose-fit styles with frill sleeves (MM6), and an ultra-modern take on the classic denim dress from Marni.
Shirt dresses, as ever, come in cool mid-length designs, perfect for the weekend when paired with plimsolls and layered over your favourite breton top.
While no holiday wardrobe will be complete without Topshop’s pocket front frock, complete with a rather pleasant purse-friendly price tag.
For day, we’ll be teaming our new denim frocks with flat sandals (lace-up, leather and equally statement), and for a night out, we’ll be amping up the look with a slick of red lipstick, some fine gold hoops and a pair of sky-high mules.
