Café Boheme

Soho's bustling Café Boheme is a great place for pre-theatre dinner or a late-night snack

Where? 13-17 Old Compton Street, London W1D 5JJQ (020-7734 0623, www.cafeboheme.co.uk)

Mood? Laid-back but bustling, with a boho, continental vibe.

Why go? The doors are open until 3am throughout the week, and 11pm on Sundays, so you can take as long as you like to finish off your croque monsieurs and moules marinere. There’s also live jazz on Thursdays and Sundays from late afternoon.

To eat? Early birds should go for the eggs Benedict or eggs royale. Later in the day, the boeuf bourguignon or beetroot, walnut and goat’s cheese salad are both popular choices.

To drink? The café liqueurs, spiced variously with Grand Marnier, calvados or brandy, will warm you up on even the frostiest of winter afternoons. Or, if you want the caffeine rush without the hot mug, an espresso bourbon martini should do the trick.

Need to know? It’s a popular pre-theatre destination so book ahead if you’re planning to pop in before a show.
