  • 9/11 has gone down in American history as one of the worst mass murder attacks - ten years later Ernest James is named as victim 1,629 to have lost his life on that tragic day

Yesterday, Ernest James was identified by The New York Medical Examiner’s Office as the 1,629th victim of September 11th.

The 40-year-old worked on the 88th floor of the World Trade Centre as an I.T expert on the night shift for Marsh and McClennan services.

‘When I couldn’t reach him, I pretty much, deep down inside, knew,’ says his fiancé Monique Keyes.

James is just one of 2,753 people assumed to have been killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Since that day, city forensics have had a full time job trying to identify thousands of remains that were recovered at the site.

A spokeswoman for the New York Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that the body of Ernest James was identified by a DNA match.

‘As long as there is technology available, doctors have made a promise that they would continue to try and identified people,’ says Ellen Borakove from the New York Medical Examiner’s Office.
