Pop star Rihanna will launch a capsule collection for River Island for spring/summer 2013

Rihanna is one of our favourite style stars with an ever increasing love of fashion, and now the pop superstar is swapping the stage for the design studio with the news that she will launch a capsule collection for high street store River Island.

Just last week, a teaser clip was released of Rihanna's new reality TV show for Sky Living, Styled to Rock, where she will coach the next batch of budding fashion designers, and now the Talk That Talk hit-maker is taking the next step and launching an exclusive collection for the high street brand for spring/summer 2013.

Rihanna said: 'I've been wanting to design my own collection for some time. I find London really inspiring and River Island loves to have fun with clothes. I'm looking forward to working with them and creating something really special.'

Ben Lewis, River Island's chief executive, added: 'We are thrilled to be collaborating with Rihanna and to be the first fashion brand to work with her in this way. Rihanna is a style icon, from street to chic she enjoys her fashion.'

With Rihanna's daring outfits and River Island's edgy take on catwalk trends, could this be a partnership made in fashion heaven? We think so.
