The latest innovative fashion item? Anti-MRSA pyjamas of course
IF THERE’S AN element of the OCD in you, then the latest innovative fashion item might be just the ticket.
A new range of silver-lined pyjamas, aimed at protecting against the hospital superbug MRSA have just hit the rails in the UK.
M&S are the first retailers to recognise the merit of the latest fashion-forward, trialling the £45 Sleep Safe pyjamas in 100 stores.
According to the manufacturers, silver is known for its infection-fighting properties and silver-laced nightwear has already been tested in some hospitals.
However, campaigners are writing off the pyjamas as a simple gimmick and are adamant the only way to combat MRSA is by making hospitals cleaner.
A spokesman for M&S said: ‘The fabric that the pyjamas are made of has been clinically proven to reduce the risk of MRSA by killing bacteria that come into contact with the fabric.’
A spokesman for MRSA Support explained that if the pyjamas did prove effective then the health service should provide the pyjamas free of charge.
Currently the pyjamas have only been designed for men.
