It's EPIC

It's EPIC

What do you do when your iconic Trucker jacket turns 50? You throw a party of course! Which is just what Levi's did last night in LA, at the Levi’s® Haus in Los Angeles.

The event was the perfect opportunity to unveil an exciting new collaboration, well, 50 collaborations to be exact. Icons and influencers from around the world have customised their own jackets to help celebrate one of the most iconic pieces of American clothing: the 1967 70505 Type III Trucker jacket of course.

We're talking heavyweights like Chance the Rapper, Solange Knowles, Snoop Dogg, Diplo, CL, Justice, Karlie Kloss, Romee Strijd, Virgil Abloh, Clayton Kershaw, Robbie Rogers, Taylor Kitsch, Karla Welch, Rob Zangardi, Tinie Tempeh and Justin Timberlake to name just a few.

The result? A bold mix of creations that we sort of wish could be sold in store (these are limited edition, going back to their owners after the party, soz). There are Swarovski-incrusted pieces, denim capes, embroidered jackets, and even some covered in black tulle or paint.

All the jackets were on display at the event, and guests also got the opportunity to get creative and DIY their own Trucker jackets at the Levi’s® Tailor Shop pop-up that offered customisation including embroidery, chain-stitching, air-brushing, pins, and more.

This being a celebration, there was a party of course. To kick things off, there was a DJ set by Snoop Dogg, followed by live performances by Chance the Rapper and Solange. Spotted on the dance floor were the Haim sisters, Karlie Kloss, Busy Philipps and Adam Devine.

And that is how you celebrate 50 years of an iconic denim jacket.

Penny Goldstone is the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire, covering everything from catwalk trends to royal fashion and the latest high street and Instagram must-haves.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
