  • Zac Efron mobbed at London premiere of new movie, Me and Orson Welles

Forget Robert Pattinson, it was all about Zac Efron in London last night, as the High School Musical heartthrob prompted scenes of mass hysteria at his latest premiere.

In the capital to promote Me and Orson Welles, the 22-year-old actor was met by hordes of screaming fans lined-up in Leicester Square, eager to a catch a glimpse of the Hollywood star.

He was joined on the red carpet by co-star Claire Danes, who though on first look appeared the picture of elegance in a sweeping black dress, suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction against the glare of the flashbulb frenzy, as her chic gown was rendered entirely see-through under the spotlight.

Luckily, Efron manic managed to detract enough attention! The film is a departure for the actor, who shot to fame as the lead of Disney’s hit teen franchise. The retro drama was filmed on the Isle of Man – a location the star revealed he relished, as a chance to escape the attention and trappings of fame.
