  • Whitney Houston has checked herself into rehab for drug and alcohol abuse

Troubled singer Whitney Houston is back in rehab. A representative for the singer confirmed she had entered a programme to help her battle her addictions to drugs and alcohol. She is thought to have relapsed while on tour for her latest album.

‘We can confirm that Whitney Houston is currently in an out-patient rehab program for drug and alcohol treatment. Whitney voluntarily entered the program to support her long-standing recovery process,’ her representative has stated.

Whitney fell victim to drug addiction in the Nineties, when stories began to circulate about her and husband Bobby Brown’s antics.

Not that she has ever shied away from discussing her problems. In 2002 she told TV host Diane Sawyer during an interview on Primetime that she had used drugs to get high in the past, but that, ‘you get to a point where you know the party’s over.’

As of 2009 though she had declared herself ‘clean,’ releasing a new album. As recently as last week she performed alongside legendary diva Chaka Khan at a Prince concert in Los Angeles.
