  • The happy couple welcomed the new addition to the family at a private hospital yesterday

Rocker Rod Stewart and his wife Penny Lancaster have welcomed a bouncing baby boy into the family, after Penny gave birth at a private hospital on Wednesday.

The couple – who already have one son together, Alastair, five – are said to be ‘proud and thrilled’ with their new arrival, Aidan.

Aidan arrived on Wednesday weighing a healthy 7lb 12oz, with a spokesman for the family revealing: ‘Mother and baby are healthy and blissfully happy’.

Rod and Penny revealed they were expecting last August, after a gruelling round of IVF treatment.

‘I couldn’t believe it. I burst into tears. I called Rod when I was still sobbing,’ Penny said of finding out she was expecting.

This is the second child for the blonde beauty, and the eight for Rod. He already has Sarah Streeter, 46, Kimberley, 30 and Sean, 29 from his marriage to Alana Stewart, Ruby, 23 from a relationship with Kelly Emberg and, Renee 18, and Liam, 15 from his marriage to Rachel Hunter.

    Congratulations to the happy couple!
