Max Clifford: It's time for Jade to bow out of the public eye. But is she ready?
Jade Goody should say goodbye to the paparazzi and her tabloid front pages and spend her last few weeks with friends and family, her publicist Max Clifford says. However, the cancer-stricken reality TV star isn’t quite ready to give up the limelight.
‘My attitude to Jade in recent times is: Don’t you think enough is enough? Don’t you think you’ve got the message out there?’ Clifford said during an interview with the TalkSport radio station.
‘The money that you wanted for the boys we’ve done, we’ve made, it’s in place, the money is assured.’
He explained, however, that his client, who has become a good friend, had turned down his offer to ban the paparazzi from taking pictures as she left hospital recently, adding: ‘Jade likes and enjoys the media spotlight. You have to marry all of these things.’
Despite this, Max said he will step in if Jade becomes so ill she’s unable to make decisions for herself.
‘I’m having conversations with her on a daily basis, when she’s not sedated, and she’s making it perfectly clear the way she wants to do things.
‘The fact of the matter is that she only has a short time to live. You have to take on board that it’s her life; she’s lived her life in the media spotlight for seven years.
‘Those seven years have been the happiest, most self-fulfilling of her life so she has the right to decide her own fate.’
