Michael Jackson personally announces 10-date 02 show
Die-hard Michael Jackson fans will be ecstatic to learn that the King of Pop will hit the stage at London’s 02 this summer for a 10-date run of shows.
Wacko Jacko – as the media have dubbed him – made a personal appearance yesterday to announce the show, which will be his first series of performances for 12 years.
At a press conference yesterday, he told a group of hysterical fans: ‘Thank you all. This is it. This is it.
‘I just wanted to say that these will be my final show performances in London. When I say this is it, it really means this is it.’
After kissing presenter Dermot O’Leary, he said: ‘I’ll be performing the songs my fans want to hear.
‘This is it, I mean this is really it. The final curtain call and I’ll see you in July. And… I love you. I really do. You have to know that. Really from the bottom of my heart.
‘This is it and I’ll see you in July.’
OK Michael, we get the picture!
The singer seemed to relish being back on stage, even throwing out a few dance moves.
Crowds didn’t seem to mind that he was an hour-and-a-half late for his two-minute speech, but Dermot reportedly looked suitably embarrassed.
The 10-date 02 show kicks off on 8 July 2009.
