Lily Allen gets some historical style inspiration
Lily Allen gave fans a history lesson last night, as she arrived for her latest gig dressed as Queen Victoria.
Hardly the most likely style icon for the Brit songstress, but with the evening’s theme set at tube stations, her unusual get-up was deemed perfectly fitting.
The singer took to the stage in a Victoria station-inspired guise, consisting of a grey wig, styled into a tight bun, a stiff long black skirt, and a fussy lace blouse.
There was still a hint of the Lily we know and love though. The look may have been demure, but her sheer top revealed a peek-a-boo corset beneath – hardly HRH appropriate!
Lily performed an intimate gig in Powis Square, London, which she had announced just a week before via her MySpace page.
Writing in her blog, she invited fans to join her, and to dress up as tube stations. She wrote: ‘The theme is London tube stations. Dress up. As an added bonus, the people who dress up the very best will win a meet and greet après-show.’
