  • Madonna shown Mercy by judges in adoption case

Madonna has reportedly been successful in her bid to adopt Mercy James from Malawi.

The singer has managed to persuade three judges to allow her to adopt the Malawian orphan in an appeal case, according to The Sun.

Two have already submitted reports recommending the adoption take place and the third is said to be ‘in complete unison with them’.

Madonna has spent the last two years trying to adopt the three-year-old, and her bid was blocked by a court in March.

But her lawyer Alan Chinula is said to have delivered her the good news this week.

The ruling is set to be announced next Sunday at Malawi’s Supreme Court of Appeal.

A source told the publication: ‘The paperwork is being typed up now.

All recommendations are in favour of the adoption taking place. Mercy should start packing her bags. She’s off to America.’

A friend of Madonna’s described her as ‘ecstatic‘, adding: ‘She made a promise that she wouldn’t give up on Mercy and, believe me, she could move mountains when she’s this determined.’
