  • Latest Pirates of the Caribbean film may set sail without Captain Jack Sparrow

The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is in danger of sinking without its most charismatic star on board.

Johnny Depp reportedly made no secret of the fact he thought the last two films ‘sucked’ and could be about to quit the films.

His portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow – based on Rolling Stone Keith Richards – won legions of fans, from children to critics and about a hundred million women.

But Disney may be forced to find a new stand-out star for the fourth Pirates film if Johnny does decide to walk.

He recently said there was ‘a crack in my enthusiasm’ for the franchise, after Disney chairman Dick Cook left the film studios.

Johnny said Dick was only one who supported his vision of Captain Jack, when other executives thought he was ruining the film.

Now industry gossip websites are buzzing with the news that Disney is looking to replace the star.

A Disney spokesperson said the rumours were ‘completely unfounded’. Of course, just like the Sugababes denied anything was wrong right up until Keisha split…

Who knows what will happen for the next three movies. Watch this space!
