  • Why £250 wellies were the ultimate Glastonbury accessory

The sun may have been shining over the weekend, but that didn’t stop Glastonbury’s ultimate accessory, yet again, being a pair of Hunter wellies.

Spotted on every celeb going, the classic boots were the footwear of choice for the likes of Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts (looking sweet and chic in a little red tea dress), Lily Allen and VV Brown.

However, there was a new Hunter on the block for 2009’s fashionsitas, albeit with a seriously hefty price tag.  Keeping one booted step ahead of the style set, Jo Whiley, Pixie Geldof and Naomi Campbell were all spotted in Hunter’s special edition Jimmy Choo boots, which cost a whopping £250.

Embossed with the design house’s signature crocodile print, featuring gold buckles and a luxe leopard print lining, these are one pair of Choos that you won’t be spotting on the red carpet.

Meanwhile, one star who eschewed practical footwear was the ever impractical Lady Gaga. Making her mark on the Glasto stage, the stylista emerged from a mirrored box in a futuristic disco-ball inspired leotard, with triangular panels and a sculptural peplum skirt.

And though her look may have been the most out-there of the bunch, her Brit contemporaries weren’t to be outdone. Allen continued her love of revolving hair colours, wearing a lilac wig for her performance, paired with a plunging blue jumpsuit, while VV Brown took to the stage in a teeny-tiny bold shoulder minidress and black hot pants.
