  • The tragic singer's second album has become the highest selling album in the UK this century

Back to Black, the second and final studio album from the late Amy Winehouse, has been named as the highest selling album in the UK this century.

After the tragic singer passed away in July, sales of the critically acclaimed album, originally released in 2006, soared, pushing it back up to the number one spot.

Now the late singer’s final album has overtaken previous winner, James Blunt’s 2005 debut Back to Bedlam, to lead the 21st century album best seller list.

The Official Charts Company has revealed Back to Black has sold an incredible 3,259,100 copies, beating Blunt’s sales of 3,241,118.

Amy is currently sitting at No. 3 in the UK charts behind Adele and Nero. She also managed to break up the top 10 on the USA Billboard Hot 200.

Tributes to the troubled singer will continue this week when Amy is to be remembered this Sunday at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.
