Amy Winehouse faces police questioning, after being made a suspect in her husband's bribery case
Amy Winehouse could be joining husband Blake Fielder-Civil behind bars, after being a suspect in his case. The troubled star has been implicated in her husband’s trial for perverting the course of justice, and will face questioning later this week.
Fielder-Civil is currently incarcerated at Pentonville prison, after his arrest last month under charges that he had tried to bribe bar man James King, who had claimed Fielder-Civil caused grievous bodily harm against him in an attack earlier this year. Blake allegedly attempted to bribe King with £200,000 and a free holiday, in exchange for fixing the verdict of the trial. It was the emergence of this huge sum of money that has implicated Amy in the case.
A source has told the News of the World: ‘When police received their initial information the inquiry centred on Blake, his friend Brown and the original victim in the case. But after seizing a number of documents, it seems there is forensic evidence that may tie Amy directly to the plot. When you think about it, as soon as the figure of £200,000 emerged, the finger of suspicion started to point in her direction. How could Blake, who does precious little for a living, be expected to come up with that kind of money?’
A police spokesman has called the new evidence implicating Winehouse, ‘a very significant development in the investigation.’
