All the hacks you need to know about

Did you know ASOS VVIPs were a thing? Nope, neither did we. It’s basically means you’re such an important customer that you can get ALL the triple points days, discounts, early sales access and so much more.

So we got more than a bit excited when the folk at intu got in touch to share their shopping hacks on how to get to that level, fast. Here’s everything you need to know…

The more you spend, the more rewards you get: for every 500 points (£100 spend), you get a £5 ASOS A-List voucher. And there are levels: level 1, level 2, level 3 and VVIP. As you unlock each level, you get more free stuff. Here’s what you get:

And it turns out there are sneaky ways to skyrocket your way to VVIP status: Shop Insider writer and VVIP ASOS shopper, Ciana O’Reilly, reveals how she did it.

1. Bribe your friends and family

One of the easiest ways to see those points clock up, without bankrupting yourself! Have your friends and family order using your account. I have managed to convince everyone I know to use my account by signing up for ASOS premier – I pay £9.95 to get unlimited, free next-day delivery for a whole year. The deal? They get to use my premier delivery, and in return, I get to keep their points. Win-win!

2. Take advantage of double and triple point days

ASOS run special double and triple point days every so often, where you get double or triple points for every purchase you make. I usually hear about these days via their emails, but also on their social channels – so be sure to follow them on Facebook and Twitter. Taking advantage of these days has seriously amped up my total points.

3. Rinse the gift shop

You’d be surprised what you can buy on ASOS. From birthday cards to cute homeware accessories, they actually have an amazing gifting department. Birthdays, weddings, Mother’s Day, Christmas you name it – ASOS have saved me many times when it comes to buying gifts. In the past, I’ve bought everything from fairy lights and jewellery holders to candles and great books.

4. Stock up on beauty essentials

ASOS have a seriously amazing range of beauty products and I highly recommend checking out the products and brands on-site. Once a month, I stock up on beauty essentials. I can find all my favourite brands from Benefit to NYX, and also exclusive brands (like The Ordinary), which I can’t get anywhere else. Plus, having a premier account means they’re delivered straight to my door with free, next-day delivery.

5. Look out for bonus points

Occasionally, ASOS offer bonus points – these give you the opportunity to earn more than the standard 5 points per £1. You can earn bonus points via special offers through their emails, the ASOS A-lister dashboard, the ASOS app and their social media accounts, so it's definitely worth keeping an eye out for these.

6. Memorise the ASOS brand list

ASOS stock loads of high street brands from New Look and River Island to Mango and hundreds more. If I see something I want to buy from one of these brands, I always check to see if ASOS stock it first. That way I can use my premier account to get free, next-day delivery and get points at the same time.

7. Make the most of ASOS voucher codes

Nothing makes me happier than when ASOS have discount days; to save money, keep an eye out for these and other codes and offers. Unlike when you shop some of their sale items, you can still collect A-Lister points when using discount codes. ASOS often do codes where you get money off, depending on how much you spend – for example, £10 off a £50 spend. It’s worth noting though, that with offers like these, you collect points on what you actually spend, rather than the total value of your basket. If you want to be the first to know when ASOS drop a discount code, sign up to our emails and we’ll send you alerts.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
