Lance Armstrong reveals sadness over Jade's death on Twitter
Cancer survivor Lance Armstrong has revealed his sadness over Jade Goody’s death on Twitter.
The seven-times winner of the Tour de France, who beat an aggressive form of testicular cancer, posted a message Twitter after the Big Brother star died in the early hours of Mother’s Day.
Armstrong wrote: ‘Sad news about Jade Goody. 27 years young and a mother of two. Not right. Not right at all. Damn.’
The 37-year-old announced he had testicular cancer in 1996 shortly after falling ill and dropping out of that year’s Tour de France.
The cancer spread to his lungs, abdomen and brain and his doctor admitted he had less than a 50% chance of survival after surgery.
However, he made an amazing comeback to win seven Tours in a row between 2000 and 2007.
Jade lost her battle with cervical cancer on 22 March 2009, with her mother Jackiey Budden, husband Jack Tweed, and good friend Kevin Adams at her bedside.
The star will be buried in her wedding dress at her funeral in Epping Forest on 4 April.
