Why everyone's looking to find love this weekend
If you’re single and looking for love, this weekend looks set to be a busy one as record numbers take to the web in the hope of finding a partner.
According to Match.com, the first weekend of January is historically a peak time for people to log on and sign up for internet dating, and the forthcoming weekend could break all previous records with up to 4.5 million people predicted to be searching for a new love over the next few days.
‘As we set our new year’s resolutions for the tenties, love is right at the top of the list of must-haves,’ Kate Taylor, Match.com‘s relationship expert, said. ‘In fact, in a post-recession world, nearly two thirds of people surveyed in match.com’s recent LoveGeist Report say that falling in love is more important now than it was a year ago.’
According to Match.com’s stats, meeting a partner through a dating site is now as popular as meeting them through work, making it the third most popular way to meet a future partner.
