'Reflected in You' taking over Fifty Shades of Grey on the bookshelves
Fifty Shades of Grey had better watch its back. A new erotic fiction book is quickly becoming a favourite – outselling EL James’ offering in its first week.
‘Reflected in You’ comes from self-published, Japanese-American author Sylvia Day, and is the follow up to her initial novel, ‘Bared to You’.
After the first novel was acquired by Penguin publishers this May, Day’s second book sold over 80,000 copies in six days in the UK – better than EL James’ novel did in it’s entire first week.
‘It’s Penguin’s biggest ever paperback sale,’ Bookseller’s charts editor, Philip Stone, told The Guardian. ‘Its mega-sale proves two things: one, that the erotica boom is here to stay, and two, that there’s still life in the printed book.’
The book follows the love affair of protagonists Eva and Gideon, and was originally entitled ‘Deeper in You’ – but was changed after some thought it too suggestive.
