The cute detail you probably missed about Prince Louis’ birthday pic

Yesterday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge marked Prince Louis' first birthday with a series of adorable portraits. ahead of his actual birthday on 23rd April.

Like with Princess Charlotte and Prince George's official portraits before, these were taken by mum Kate Middleton, in the grounds of their home in Norfolk.

Louis is seen smiling and generally having a bawl, and in two of the shots he wears a cute burgundy knitted jumper.

In the third shot though, he poses in a super cute puppy jumper, which some believe is actually a nod to his grandmother's love of her Corgis. Others pointed out that it was similar to the solider jumper Prince George wore in his first birthday portrait, in that it had a cute motif which was so quintessentially British.

Either way you look at it, it looks adorable on him. It's by British brand Trotters and cost just £35, though of course within just a few hours of the photos being released, the jumper sold out.

Here's hoping it gets re-stocked soon.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
