  • Sarah Palin accused of affair with husband's business partner

Sarah Palin, the would-be vice president of America, has been accused of having an affair with her husband’s former business partner.

After a rousing speech at the Republican convention earlier this week, which won over all but her most stubborn detractors, the self-confessed ‘pitbull in lipstick‘ has found herself back in the headlines, but for all the wrong reasons.

The National Enquirer claims Palin cheated on her husband, Todd, with one of his colleagues; an ‘anonymous source’ is quoted as saying: ‘Todd discovered the affair and quickly dissolved his friendship and his business associations with the guy.’

Calling the story a ‘vicious lie’, Republican chief strategist Steve Schmidt said yesterday: ‘The smearing of the Palin family must end. The allegations insinuating that Governor Palin had an extramarital affair are categorically false.’

Despite threats from the party to sue the tabloid, The National Enquirer isn’t backing down.

‘The National Enquirer’s coverage of a vicious war within Sarah Palin’s extended family includes several newsworthy revelations, including the resulting incredible charge of an affair plus details of family strife when the Governor’s daughter revealed her pregnancy,’ a spokesperson said.

The real problem for the Republicans, however, doesn’t appear to be the smear campaign against Palin, but the fact she seems to be upstaging her running mate.

‘How do you top that?’ a Republican strategist was overhead following her electrifying speech.
