Shoppers will spend over £500 each this Christmas on the internet
BRITISH SHOPPERS WILL spend £500 this Christmas buying gifts on the internet, in an attempt to dodge high-street crowds. The figures from Forrester Research show that 27 million shoppers will spend £13.6 billion on the internet in the lead up to Christmas.
The average spend per customer equals £509, the first time this figure has broken the £500 mark. This is also a 40% increase on last year.
The huge increase in online spending is down to a 30% jump in the number of households receiving a broadband connection in the last year.
