  • Katie Holmes makes style statement at Broadway opening

Katie Holmes made her official Broadway debut last night, and far from playing it safe, made a daring style statement as well.

Joining co-stars John Lithgow and Diane West for the All My Son’s after party, Mrs Cruise embraced two of next season’s key trends, donning a satin jumpsuit, with a harem pant leg.

Jumpsuits were all over the spring/summer ’09 runways, spotted at Versace, Stella McCartney, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Chloe, to name just a few.

While the harem pant was another key trend to look out for, featured on the catwalks at Ralph Lauren, Chanel, Paul Smith and Sportmax.

Both are quite hard-to-wear trends, yet Katie exhibited a taste for the fashion forward by combining the two.

As the for the show itself, and the former Dawson’s Creek star won mixed reviews, although Varity praised her for ‘striking physical presence.’

No matter what the reviewers say, the show looks set to be a massive success, and in its preview week quickly became the higest-grossing play on Broadway, takining $684,002 at the box office.
