  • Beyoncé to star as soul singer Etta James in new movie

Beyoncé is continuing her portrayal of blues singers by playing the I Just Want to Make Love To You singer Etta James in a film about the 1950s music business.

The Crazy In Love singer, who was Golden Globe-nominated for her role in Dreamgirls, is also set to be an executive producer on the new movie, Cadillac Records.

Actor Adrien Brody is also signed up to star in the movie, playing the record label’s founder, Leonard Chess.

The story will relay the tumultuous lives of musicians who were signed to the record label, including Muddy Waters and Chuck Berry.

Beyoncé will record four songs for the film’s soundtrack. Etta James herself made her UK hit back in 1996 after her song was selected to accompany a Diet Coke advert.

The ex-Destiny’s Child singer is reportedly donating a proportion of her fee to the Survivor Foundation, a charity which supports those recovering from drug addiction.
