Actress looks stunning in severe floor-length Valentino lace gown at the special screening in New York
Keira Knightley looked stunning in a dramatic black Valentino lace gown with a flash of red lip for the New York screening of her latest flick, Anna Karenina.
Originally scheduled for October 30, the New York premiere for Anna Karenina had to be postponed due to Hurricane Sandy, but order was resumed when Keira Knightley stepped out looking flawless for the special screening at the Florence Gould Hall, last night.
The British actress somewhat channeled her Russian socialite character in this demure floor-length Valentino gown, complete with defined make-up and her hair scraped back into a striking updo.
Also attending the event was actress Olivia Wilde, co-star Alicia Vikander and fashion designer Donna Karan.
Although Keira decided to keep her jewellery to a minimum for the screening, Anna Karenina costume designer Jacqueline Durran has revealed Knightley was the reason behind the film being able to loan $2m worth of diamonds from Chanel.
Keira, who is the face of Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle perfume, was able to develop the character of rich aristocrat Anna in the Joe Wright-directed film thanks to having a large range of diamonds and pearls at her ‘fingertips’.
Durran told WWD: ‘Never in my experience on film sets have I seen anyone with such a range of diamonds and pearls.
‘But I have to say it was very useful for Keira to have at her fingertips all this fine jewellery, as Anna would. It was the aura of Anna Karenina that we were creating.’
We wouldn’t mind having Lagerfeld on speed dial either!
